ISS and Accenture enter a Vested Outsourcing collaboration for greater business outcomes

It takes a delicate balance to set up a sourcing partnership that is mutually beneficial to customers and facility service providers. Lasting win-win partnerships flourish only when both sides get an added value and are equally committed. These are relationships where customers consistently see results that positively influence business outcomes, and service providers are empowered with incentives to think big.

But how do you get there?

For ISS and Accenture, 2005 marked the beginning of a new business collaboration. What first begun as an input-based single-service relation, later evolved into a solid output-based Integrated Facility Services contract.

Yet, with a continuous focus on innovation and a strong need for flexibility, even the greatest output-based contracts have their limits.

About Accenture

Accenture solves their clients' toughest challenges by providing unmatched services in strategy, digital, technology and operations. Accenture partners with more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500, driving innovation to improve the way the world works and lives. With expertise across more than 40 industries and all business functions, Accenture delivers transformational outcomes for a demanding new digital world.

We truly believed in our partnership and wanted to see each other as partners. In reality, however, and as all outputs were pre-defined, the contract still constrained us to act as client and supplier. ISS still needed our permission to changes of any kind, even if these held more innovative and efficient approaches to workplace management. We still needed to tick the box so to speak.

- Ricco Groeneveld, Workplace Lead at Accenture

With both parties eager to create world-class employee experiences that are flexible, innovative and adapted to the busy lives of young consultants, Accenture and ISS wanted their relationship to evolve beyond the limitations of an output-based contract.

Rather than playing tug-of-war for their own bottom lines, they wanted to collaborate with shared visions, goals and a mutual strategic dedication.

Ricco Groeneveld, Workplace Lead at Accenture, explains:

We had multiple discussions on how to really make workplace innnovation thrive. Knowing each other so well and believing in each other's values and ways of doing business, we knew that being strategically vested in each other's success was the right way to move forward. Applying the Vested Outsourcing approach allows us to focus on transformational initiatives that generate value, rather than solely focusing on costs.

With respect to the shared vision and desired outcomes, ISS today has the complete freedom to improve, innovate and re-think their service delivery to whatever suits the Accenture consultants the best way - without concerning themselves with any contractual restraints.

Together ISS and Accenture are on an ongoing journey to innovate the Accenture Workplace Experience. Be it a [email protected] program that ensures work-life balance, a healthy and nutritious diet as well as a consultancy for new parents to-be or an innovative workplace infrastructure that provides the consultants with freedom to perform their work whenever and wherever they like.

One thing is sure though - with a complete trust in each other's capabilities, ISS and Accenture work every day on renewing the workplace experience. Not only for the profit of their mutual collaboration - but for the profit of every single consultant working there.
